About TLC
Welcome To
TLC Sign Language Services, LLC
Hello, I am Tina L Cook, a Certified Sign Language Interpreter.
I began learning ASL in my local church and later began volunteer interpreting for our church services, utilizing Deaf and Hearing Mentors. I also completed 4 semesters of ASL classes, attended numerous Deaf Culture classes and workshops, and completed an Interpreter Training Program.
For the next 12 years, I worked in the K-12 and the Community environment until establishing my own business, TLC Sign Language Services, in August 2012. Within those 12 years, I acquired Ed:K-12, NAD, SSA-I, and NIC certifications.
As I worked within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, I witnessed significant and consistent gaps in communication access and equality. I decided that I could play a part in making a difference in the community by providing consistent, dependable services through a reputable and professional interpreting business.
I also saw the need for education. The hearing world lacks the knowledge and understanding of the importance of qualified onsite interpreters; and a vast majority of the Deaf community lacked the tools and resources necessary to become self-empowered advocates for equal access through qualified interpreters.
My business Mission is to “Bridge the Communication Gap between the Deaf and Hearing Worlds”. This is an ongoing effort facilitated through integrity, professionalism, education, advocacy, and resources.
